In California, you can report identity theft to your local police department. Give the police as much information as possible. This includes copies of your credit report that show the fraudulent account(s) and other evidence of the crime. Don’t forget to get a copy of the police report because you’ll need to give it to the creditors, debt collectors and credit bureaus.
